Qwest West, Inc. is a non-profit, experiential outdoor ministry founded by John Cook in 1996 to lead young adults on trips of faith and leadership development in the American West. As an affiliated ministry of Shandon Presbyterian Church and UKirk SC at the University of South Carolina, the inclusive ministry’s mission is to share the wonder and beauty of God’s creation found in the West with young adults, helping them scale new heights in spiritual maturity, faith development, leadership, community responsibility, and self-awareness about their own place and mission in this world. Qwest West’s motto may be summarized as “What you are is your gift from God, and what you become is your gift to God.”
Inherent in the ministry’s mission is an inclusive outreach, providing the Qwest West experience for as many students from all walks of life and socioeconomic backgrounds as possible.
